HHGM is looking for volunteers to assist us in making Kintsugi art pieces for our banquet next March 8. If you are creative or enjoy DIY, you might enjoy learning the Japanese art of Kintsugi. A FREE training will be offered Tuesday, January 11, 2018, at First English Lutheran Church at 440 Garfield in Wisconsin Rapids beginning at 6:30. RSVPs are appreciated so we have enough materials and refreshments. This is an adult activity and childcare is not provided. See flyer for details.

Today’s world is not 1950.  From shootings at ballgames in Washington D.C. to escaped criminals in Wisconsin, the news is filled with the reminders that things have changed.  Spurred by questions from area churches about how to handle people who walk in looking for help, we have enlisted the expertise of local law enforcement and county crisis management to help us know how to deal with clients who have mental health issues, are dealing with addiction, or overwhelmed with their lives in general.

This event will help the Helping Hands Gospel Mission, who help the homeless here in Wood County, Wisconsin.
Tickets are $5.00 at the door; you will receive a small lunch, and a paddle. Additional paddles will be 2/$5. We will have Chinese raffle tickets available 10/$5. We will also have a baked goods auction. The sales from the baked good auction, ticket sales and Chinese raffle will go to the non profit organization.
***This is how the auction works! Each vendor will auction off 3 of their products. Depending on the retail value of the product will depend on how many quarters you will bid with.
***For example: kitcheneez will auction off 5 seasoning mixes for a one quarter bid, valued at $25. You will place a quarter in the bowl for each paddle(s) that you have. You will raise your paddle(s) and wait to hear if your paddle number is called. If your paddle is called you win that product for a quarter. If you didn’t want to bid on this product, you simply say no bid.
